Joyce's (played by Winona Ryder) first appearance is in season one, episode one, the day Will
went missing. She's the girlfriend of Hopper, has two kids (Will and
Jonathan Byers) and is now the gaurdian of Eleven

In season one, Joyce is paranoid, scared, and brave. She doesn't care about being
called crazy for talking to Will through the wall or seeing a
moster through the wall. She spent the whole season looking for her son and found him
after going through big obsticles.
In season two, Joyce has a boyfriend named Bob.
She knows Will has been having episodes from what happened
to him in the first season but she feels like something else is wrong with him. She's
asking the doctors what is wrong with Will, but they don't know until they burn a part
of the Upside Down, and She burns The Mind Flayer out of Will.
In season three, she's sad from the death of her boyfriend and confused
on why her magnets fell off her fridge.
In season four, Joyce is taking care of Eleven, and
finds out that Hopper is alive through a message she got in the mail and tells
Murray and they both go and find him in Alaska.
